New & Improved: Celebrating our new website and the top 4 things we love about it

If you are reading this right now, you have probably gotten a taste of IRH’s new website, which now includes a blog!

Welcome!

2013 has meant a lot of exciting change for the reproductive health community, including IRH. As we continue to make new commitments toward expanding family planning options for women and couples, advancing gender equality and involving communities, we want to ensure these approaches in our future work continue to be comprehensive and holistic.

2013 also means the close of our five-year USAID-funded project focused on Fertility Awareness-based Methods (FAM). In the spirit of legacy and continued scale-up, we wanted our partners to have better access to the tools and resources developed during the past five years under the FAM project, as well as others. We also recognize the power of a relevant and functional digital presence in a world where patterns of communication and methods of information-sharing are rapidly evolving. We asked ourselves what we could change about our web presence in order to create a more user-friendly experience, improve navigation, and better engage and support our colleagues in the global health field.

Here are the top four things we love about our new site. We hope you love them too!

  1. Our resource library is completely restructured and categorized to better facilitate your searches. We recognize how important it is for researchers, program managers, policymakers, and donors to have access to our downloadable tools and publications. Just enter a keyword or phrase on our homepage, or choose your own filters, such as ‘project’, ‘focus area’, or type of product under “Resource Library.”
  2. Though we’ve existed on “microblogs” like Twitter and Facebook for a while, with the new website comes our first-ever blog. Visit regularly or subscribe to our blog’s RSS feed and you’ll receive regular updates about what is new with IRH—from publications to new trainings and implementation tools in a wide range of focus areas.
  3. Our map helps to visually tell the story of where we’ve been and where we’re going. Hover over the map. Shaded countries indicate where IRH has carried out previous research studies, implemented projects, or offered technical assistance. Click on a country and access all projects associated with the country, and all related resources and tools.
  4. You can now share each page and blog post across all major social networking sites. Want a friend or colleague to see the GREAT Project’s accomplishments in northern Uganda? Use the share feature in the footer at the bottom of the page to easily pass the information along through Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and more!

So, what do you think? Take this short survey to tell us.
