REAL Fathers India: Findings from 2021 Formative Research

Under Passages, the REAL Fathers initiative is being adapted for implementation in India, supported by USAID and in collaboration with the Child in Need Institute. As part of this activity, we conducted formative research  to guide the adaptation of this program for couples living in the intervention areas of West Bengal, conducting in-depth interviews and focus groups in an urban site and a rural site near Kolkata. The study included young and older fathers and mothers within the community, community leaders, community organization and health workers, and government representatives. The report includes findings around parenting, couples’ relationship, family planning, and how and where they seek advice on these subjects.
