Every Day Can Be a Good Day: Menstrual Hygiene Day 2016
This Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Institute for Reproductive Health is joining with organizations around the world to proclaim that menstruation matters to everyone, everywhere!
Menstruation can have a major impact on the daily lives of women and girls, but menstruation is just one part of an elaborate cycle that women’s bodies journey through each month during their reproductive years. Understanding menstruation opens that door to understanding your body’s overall health and fertility.
Unfortunately, knowledge about the menstrual cycle is very low. When it comes to our bodies, we are largely illiterate.
At IRH, we believe that accurate, actionable knowledge of the menstrual cycle and underlying biology is essential for good sexual and reproductive health. This is true not only for women and girls during their monthly bleeding, but for all people, every day.
In celebration of the 4th annual Menstrual Hygiene Day, IRH staff participated in the Every Day Can Be a Good Day campaign. Scroll through our photo gallery below to see how we think Every Day Can Be a Good Day when people have the knowledge about their bodies.
If you want to test your understanding of menstruation and fertility, take our quiz at KnowYourBod.org. See how your knowledge compares to your peers’.
